This term in dance club at Snodland Primary School we have been dancing to a song from the film, Encanto, and had a Latin feel to our dance movements.

The children enjoyed learning some Salsa and Cha Cha moves and we added in some colourful scarfs to our movement. The use of the prop really helped them to develop their confidence and they explored lots of different ways to make their scarfs move.

“I love using the scarfs, can we use another prop next term?”

It has been lovely this term to have more dancers join us from the younger year groups and now we have Year 2 to Year 6 children in our club. In fact it has doubled in size! It is also really lovely to see how the older ones take the younger ones under their wing and have helped them when they have found a movement a little tricky.

“This dance makes me feel happy”

“I have really enjoyed learning some different dance moves”

They also loved working creatively together to create their own section of the dance, they used different levels and pathways to create different patterns within their movement. It has been lovely to introduce some cultural dance to this lovely group and they are looking forward to the next term.

One teacher who walked through the hall said “They have a great sense of rhythm, you can tell they are really enjoying themselves”
